Technology: New Whatsapp feature – screen sharing on video call in beta version

Magdeburg/DUR/acs – Whatsapp introduced a new feature. After recently that subsequent processing of messages became possible in the new update, Whatsapp is now expanding its messenger service with another useful function – initially in the beta version.

As the portal WABetainfo reports, after installing a beta update with the version number “2.23.11.19”, some users should now be able to share their screen with the other party during a video call.

New Whatsapp feature in the beta version: Screen sharing possible in the future

In the future, you can share the screen by pressing a new, corresponding icon in the navigation bar of the video call. If you click on it, a recording starts and the system shares all the content shown on the display.

However, WABetainfo reports that smartphones with older Android versions may not be able to enjoy the new sharing feature. It is also unclear whether the new function will only be activated for two-person calls or for larger group video calls.

In addition, both the sender and the recipient would first have to update the app and thus activate the new function. Otherwise the screen cannot be transferred.

Beta testers should be able to use the new screen-sharing feature in the coming days or weeks at the latest. It is not yet known when and if the feature will also be ready for the market and thus reach users of the normal WhatsApp version.
