The sociologist Robert Dorschel spotted an unknown being: the tech worker. That’s what he calls the highly qualified professionals in the digital economy who build the world out of computers and smartphones: programmers, developers, data scientists. For his PhD at Cambridge University, Dorschel conducted many interviews with tech workers and their work culture researched. After all, their ideas strongly shape the digital technologies that permeate our everyday lives. (As for data scientist, there is no proper translation for the term tech worker in Germany.)
