Whatever Taylor Swift touches turns to gold. It’s no surprise that their latest record is breaking records again. Even the streaming provider Spotify sometimes loses track of things.

Taylor Swift is still on the hunt for records with her new album. After the gigantic success of their “The Eras” tour and the accompanying concert film, this was foreseeable. But even the streaming service Spotify obviously didn’t expect that the bang when “The Tortured Poets Department” was released on April 19th would be so loud.

When Swift’s new work surpassed 200 million streams that Friday, Spotify was compelled to immediately announce this incredible record. Never before had an album received so many views in just one day – not even Taylor Swift herself, who had already set new streaming records in 2022 and 2023 with “Midnights” and “1989 (Taylor’s Version)”.

Taylor Swift can only be beaten by Taylor Swift

The following Saturday, Spotify had to correct itself again regarding this record report and announced updated figures. Since the numbers continued to rise steeply after the first report, the 300 million stream mark was even broken by midnight on April 19th.

“History made!”, the company tweeted in addition. “On April 19, 2024, Taylor Swift’s ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ became the first album in Spotify history to have over 300 million streams in a single day.”
