Taylor Swift reveals “fierceest” album of her career

The day long awaited by millions of fans has arrived: The Tortured Poets Department (“The Ministry of Tortured Poets”), new album by American superstar Taylor Swift, is available this Friday, April 19 at midnight, US east coast time. It was announced last February, during the Grammy Awards ceremony.

The word “event” seems too weak to describe this release. “No kidding, Taylor Swift might be even taller after The Tortured Poets Department”, already warned CNN the day before. “It’s probably the most anticipated album since I’ve been doing this job,” confided Tom Poleman, radio programmer, to American television.

The opus should satisfy fans eager for new tracks: it is ultimately a double album, with no less than 31 tracks in total. For the release on vinyl also, the singer, known for her sense of marketing, thought big. Four separate versions, each including a different bonus track, have been released for sale – three of which are special editions, sold out on the day of release.

The best “gossip songs”

The first reviews published in the international press were mostly laudatory and praised a very personal work.

“This may well be Taylor Swift’s most intimate album to date,” title like this Roll
