Unsurprisingly, music superstar Taylor Swift has broken records with her new album “The Tortured Poets Department” on Spotify.

Only released on April 19th, Taylor Swift’s (34) latest album “The Tortured Poets Department” is already setting records on the music streaming service Spotify. The eleventh studio album by the musician, who recently made it into the celebrity billionaire club, was streamed more than 200 million times on Spotify within the first day of its release. as Variety reports.

No album has ever broken the barrier of 200 million streams in one day before. Particularly noteworthy: According to Variety, Swift didn’t even need 24 hours to reach the number of views with “The Tortured Poets Department.” The final figures for the release day are likely to be even higher. Her new album also made Swift the most streamed artist in a single day in Spotify history. The music streaming service confirmed the seemingly unbelievable success on Instagram.

According to Variety, after yesterday’s success with “The Tortured Poets Department,” Swift is now responsible for the three most streamed albums in a single day on Spotify. Following their latest release are the album “Midnights” from 2022 and the new recording “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” from last fall.

“The Tortured Poets Department” was originally intended to consist of 16 new titles. Stars like rapper Post Malone (28) and Florence + the Machine can be heard on the recording. However, two hours after its release, Swift announced 15 additional songs on Instagram, making “The Tortured Poets Department” a double album.

“‘The Tortured Poets Department’ is a secret double album. I’ve written so many tortured poems over the last two years and wanted to share it all with you,” Swift wrote on the social network to explain.
