Taylor Swift (34) has at the 66th Grammy Awards won the premier class prize on Sunday evening in Los Angeles, broke a record and made an announcement.Bamm!

The US superstar received the “Album of the Year” award for her album “Midnights”. In addition to her, music legends such as Paul Simon, Frank Sinatra and Stevie Wonder have each received the award three times in this main category. Swift has now moved past them to become the first person ever to win four Grammys for Album of the Year.

During her acceptance speech, she calculated that this would be her 13th Grammy and that 13 is her lucky number. And then she added one more:

“I know that the way the Recording Academy voted is a direct reflection of the passion of the fans,” Swift said. “So I want to thank the fans by telling you a secret that I’ve been keeping from you for the last two years, which is that my brand new album is coming out on April 19th.”

She added: “It’s called ‘Tortured Poets Department.’ I’ll post the cover right backstage now. Thank you. Ich liebe dich. Thank you.”

Girl power at the Grammys

Moderator Trevor Noah opened the gala with a tribute to the many female nominees. “Can we enjoy for a second the fact that women have dominated music this year?” said the South African comedian. “Seven of the nominees for Album of the Year are women.”

There were also many women on stage: US songwriter legend Tracy Chapman sang her 1988 hit “Fast Car” in a duet with country star Luke Combs. Eilish also performed alongside SZA and pop singer Dua Lipa, singing her winning song “What Was I Made For?” from the “Barbie” film.

Many of the more than 90 awards were announced before the show began, at the so-called pre-gala.
