Taylor Swift’s Midnights album continues to break records. Now there’s a new one: six million album sales in eight weeks.
Taylor Swift (33) ends the year with another record: “Midnights”, the singer’s tenth studio album, sold more than six million copies worldwide – within eight weeks. That reports the music magazine “NME”. That’s six million units, which is comparable to album sales.
Lucian Grainge, CEO of Universal Music Group, told the magazine, “Taylor is a multidimensional creative force whose accomplishments place her among the most accomplished artists in music history. We are thrilled and honored to work with her in so many aspects of her career to work together.”
Many records with “Midnights”
It’s not the first record Taylor Swift has set with “Midnights.” According to the magazine, Swift also became the first artist to have five albums sell more than a million units in the first week of release.
In the week following the release of “Midnights,” Swift had ten of her songs make the entire top ten on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Nobody had done that before her. Already on the first day of the release (October 21) she had set a streaming record on Spotify and even paralyzed the app for a short time.
