Taylor Lautner rose to stardom through his role in the “Twilight” films. But he couldn’t handle the fame for long.

Although Taylor Lautner (29) had other roles before, he became a star with the “Twilight” films alongside Kristen Stewart (31) and Robert Pattinson (35). He was still a teenager when he starred in the first part of the series. In a new interview with “Today” Lautner explainsthat for a long time he did not cope with this fame and was even afraid to leave home.

Not many things in life can happen overnight like sudden fame, the actor says. When he was around 16 to 18 years old, there would always have been 12 cars waiting outside his home to follow him – even if he just wanted to go for a walk or a date.

Taylor Lautner hasn’t been to the cinema in ten years

For years he either didn’t leave the house at all or only left it in disguise. “I didn’t know, but I was afraid to go out.” For a whole decade he didn’t even go to the cinema or a grocery store. Later it “felt like freedom” when Lautner could just go shopping again. “I, Taylor, feel so much better today than I have in the last four or five years,” he can now confirm.

According to Lautner, his fiancée also played a major role in rebuilding him. In November he had made it public on Instagramthat he had proposed to his girlfriend, also named Taylor. “And just like that, all my wishes came true,” he wrote of two romantic photos.

Although he had appeared in other productions after “Twilight”, the actor took a break from Hollywood in 2016 and has been quite quiet on screen in recent years. Since January 28, he has been in the sports comedy “Home Team” alongside Kevin James (56) on Netflix.
