Tax Wastage: Twelve Examples from the Black Book of the Taxpayers’ Association (Photos)

It’s that time again. In its annual black book presented on Wednesday, the taxpayers’ association again listed 100 examples of how taxpayers’ money was wasted by German authorities in different regions of Germany. The association also criticized the planned extension of the Chancellery in Berlin, which according to the latest estimates will cost 777 million euros – around 177 million more than expected.

“Even this price will not be tenable,” said association president Reiner Holznagel. In view of inflation and a shortage of skilled workers, the sum will have to be revised upwards again. “I predict that we will come close to a billion,” said Holznagel.

The Association of Taxpayers is a lobby group that advocates lowering taxes and reducing public debt. Every year, projects are denounced in which, in his view, tax money was wasted.

Twelve of the most bizarre examples on the list.
