Tax trial against Andrea Tandler: The invisible business partner – Bavaria

According to current figures, 76 percent of Germans use the chat program Whatsapp. It is the most popular social media: free, simple, ad-free. The advertising entrepreneur Andrea Tandler, who was accused of serious tax evasion, also greatly appreciated the advantages of the service at the beginning of the corona pandemic. She coordinated million-dollar transactions between the Swiss mask retailer Emix and the health ministries in the federal government, North Rhine-Westphalia and Bavaria, preferably via Whatsapp groups that had names like “The Ministry” or “Masketeers”. In March 2020, contracts with a volume of almost half a billion euros were concluded. Tandler received high commissions. For example, the daughter of the former CSU great Gerold Tandler, through her political connections, opened the door for Emix to the then Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU), who was desperately looking for masks.
