Tax cut: ADAC expects queues at gas stations – Auto & Mobil

Due to the reduction in energy tax on petrol and diesel planned for June 1, the ADAC expects queues at the petrol stations at the beginning of the month. In the opinion of the automobile club, many motorists will no longer fill up in May if possible, but want to benefit from the lower fuel prices in June, it said in a statement. Long queues and unusual waiting times at the petrol stations should therefore be taken into account – at least at peak times. Drivers should also proceed with a sense of proportion and have enough fuel in the tank so that they may not have to drive to the tank until a few days after the beginning of the month.

In the club’s view, the tax cut must be passed on to consumers in full and as soon as possible. ADAC traffic president Gerhard Hillebrand called on the mineral oil companies to “fully exploit the scope for relief and pass it on to consumers”. The federal government had decided to reduce the energy tax by 14 cents for diesel and almost 30 cents for petrol; Since no VAT is due on this reduction amount, the tax deduction according to ADAC calculations is 35 cents for petrol and just under 17 cents for diesel.
