  • Murders, mafia, emotions: A Berlin “crime scene” that will be remembered

What’s the matter?

A male body is recovered from the Spree. Her head is missing and her body was otherwise badly abused. While Commissioner Robert Karow (Mark Waschke) determines the identity of the victim, his colleague Nina Rubin (Meret Becker) has another task to deal with. A young woman approaches them in a souvenir shop. Julie Bolshakov (Bella Dayne) is married to the boss of a Russian mafia clan and knew the dead man. She wants to unpack about her family’s criminal dealings and demands to be included in the witness protection program. Nina Rubin should help her with this.

Why is The Girl Who Walks Home Alone case worth it?

Meret Becker already announced in 2019 that she would leave the “crime scene” in the foreseeable future. The case “The girl who goes home alone” is now her farewell performance as Commissioner Nina Rubin – and what a. She has a strong opponent in clan wife Julie Bolshakov. Screenwriter Günter Schütter and director Ngo The Chau tell the story of two courageous women who risk everything to achieve their goals. Including a 30-minute showdown, which is not often seen in the “crime scene”.

What bothers?

If you’re expecting a classic crime thriller, you might be disappointed. The drowned corpse found at the beginning of the film only plays a minor role. The fact that it is also about Russian perpetrators who brutally maim their victims has a stale aftertaste in view of the Ukraine war. However, the shooting already took place in November 2021.

The commissioners?

The professional relationship between Karow and Rubin was marked by distrust for a long time. Everyone did more or less their own. Recently, the commissioners worked better together and even approached each other privately. But the new case brings back the old problems: Rubin first has to lie to her colleague in order not to endanger her witness Julie Bolshakov.
