Tate brothers arrested again in Romania

Controversial influencer Andrew Tate and his brother have been arrested in Romania for alleged sexual offenses. Great Britain had obtained a European arrest warrant. Both deny the allegations.

The British-American influencer Andrew Tate (37) and his brother Tristan (35) are to be extradited from Romania to Great Britain for alleged sexual crimes. This was decided by the appeal court in the Romanian capital Bucharest, the British news agency PA quoted a spokeswoman for the brothers as saying. The basis was a European arrest warrant that London had obtained.

Accusation: human trafficking and exploitation

The men are charged in Romania with human trafficking and exploitation of young women. They are said to have committed similar crimes in Great Britain. The lawyers of four women had already threatened Andrew Tate with legal action in a British court in June last year. Her clients wrote a letter demanding compensation for the sexual violence they suffered.

According to the British law firm McCue Jury & Partners, hired by the women, the acts included “violent rape, serious physical attacks and controlling and coercive behavior.” The law firm welcomed the arrest of the Tate brothers, citing information that the two British citizens “may have been planning to flee Romania.”

Because of the risk of escape, the law firm contacted the British police and pushed for a European arrest warrant. Tate’s lawyer, Eugen Vidineac, dismissed the escape plan allegation on Tuesday as a “complete fantasy.” Their lawyer explained that the European arrest warrants were inadmissible because the brothers were currently awaiting trial in Romania for other offenses.

Influencer with misogynistic Statements

Andrew and Tristan Tate were arrested in Romania in another case at the end of 2022. The public prosecutor’s office accuses the two men of running a human trafficking ring in Romania and other countries such as the USA and Great Britain. Two women are said to have been involved.

Influencer Andrew Tate has been banned from several internet networks such as Instagram and TikTok for repeated misogynistic comments. However, the kickboxer still has around nine million followers on the online service X. In videos, Tate gives tips for success and spreads misogynistic and violent views.
