4.4 million tuned in to the opening show, “Caren Miosga.” The reactions are still mixed.

Caren Miosga (54) and her team can look forward to a successful debut for their new political talk show. 4.40 million tuned in when the host spoke with Friedrich Merz (68) on the show named after her on the topic “Merz is realigning the CDU – will Germany’s future be conservative?” (from 9:45 p.m. on the first) spoke.

According to AGF Videoforschung, “Tatort: Zerrissen” (das Erste) from Stuttgart took first place with 8.39 million. This was followed by the “Tagesschau” (das Erste), which was tuned in by 7.89 million, followed by the ZDF feature film “A Summer in the Black Forest” (5.06 million). 4.10 million wanted to see the short edition of the RTL jungle camp, in which Cora Schumacher (47) surprisingly threw in the towel.

“Caren Miosga” premiere vs. “Anne Will” farewell

The opening broadcast did not only do well in direct comparison. Miosga and her team can also be happy compared to the final broadcast of the talk predecessor. The last edition of “Anne Will” (2007-2023) at the beginning of December attracted 3.35 million people to the screens after “Tatort: Des Anderen Last” (2023, Cologne). An average of four million tuned in.

Viewers with mixed reactions

The viewers received the new program favorably. This is also evident in the Comments on Instagram to that.

“That was a classy round of discussions. Make excuses, listen, give objections and still remain polite. Very entertaining,” praises a follower. You can also read this detailed praise: “Great first conversation show! Finally dialogue at the round table. I really like the new format; and Caren Miosga even more so. Attentive, humorous, pleasant as a person and clear and well-founded as a journalist. Just the right mix between leading the conversation and in the appropriate places. And as always: modest and professional. Top!”

But there is also criticism: “Disappointing. Very disappointing. The whole of Germany is experiencing mass demonstrations against right-wing radicalism and the first thing you see at 9:45 p.m. is the face of Friedrich Merz,” writes a disappointed follower and asks why not one of them many who represent this mass movement that no one expected – “instead, always the same faces”.

Another user comments: “Embarrassing. Merz gets a platform, critical questions are not asked. Miosga on a cozy course with the CDU?” A user reacted to this: “For me it had nothing to do with a cuddle course! On the contrary. That’s the only reason I stuck with it! I can still form my opinion about the statements of Friedrich Merz.”

The station has not yet revealed who will be a guest on the next show next Sunday (January 28th).
