Friday night at a popular vegetarian restaurant in central Taipei. There are countless varieties of tofu here and everything is wonderfully healthy. Especially women in their fifties sit here on this evening and reverently enjoy their food in small groups or alone. Every now and then the pleasant silence is interrupted by an electrical whirring. Then something that looks like a cross between a vacuum cleaner and a bar stool drives through the rows and distributes the food to the tables. After that, there’s a brief muffled sound, probably meant to say something like “Job Complete”.
