SZ Sustainability Summit – Habeck in conversation – Economy

Because of the gas shortage, the economics minister is increasingly turning to coal. After his appearance at the SZ Sustainability Summit, the Prime Ministers of Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg, Söder and Kretschmann, will discuss. What do you think of the EU plans to phase out combustion engines?

Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens) has stepped up to promote the energy transition in Germany. However, Russia’s attack on Ukraine has not only shaken the global political order, it is also having a massive impact on the energy supply. Moscow has cut gas supplies to Europe. Habeck has therefore announced that it will temporarily use more coal to generate electricity. He rejects a lifetime extension for the three still active German nuclear power plants. How does he intend to master the energy transition under difficult conditions?

Bavaria’s Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU), on the other hand, has called for the nuclear power plants to run longer. After Economics Minister Habeck, he is a guest at the SZ Sustainability Summit, together with Winfried Kretschmann (Greens), Prime Minister of Baden-Württemberg. Habeck needs both to achieve his goals. What do you, the heads of government of the auto federal states, say about the EU plans to phase out combustion engines? SZ economics chief Marc Beise will conduct the talks.
