SZ podcast “The topic” – dementia: the great forgetting – knowledge

Franzi and Wilhelm Kraus have been married for 30 years. They used to do something twice a week, for example going to the theatre, cabaret or an exhibition. Wilhelm Kraus now finds everyday actions difficult and he apparently no longer even knows his wife’s name. Because Wilhelm Kraus has dementia. Just like 1.5 million other people in Germany right now. There is already a lack of care options and knowledge of how to deal with the disease.

What does this mean for relatives and what are the care options? The SZ editors Nina Bovensiepen and Ramona Dinauer have been researching this in recent months. This episode of “The Theme” is about the results of their work. And Franzi Kraus also talks about her everyday life with her husband Wilhelm.
