SZ Podcast: The Secret King of Nigeria – Economy

Of

Johannes Korsche, Vinzent-Vitus Leitgeb and Carolin Lenk

One evening, Bastian Obermayer is scrolling through the Suisse Secrets data. And it sticks to one name: Eduard Seidel. He is listed as a customer residing in Nigeria – but the name does not sound Nigerian. A Google search later, the SZ reporter has an urgent question: Could the millions in the Credit Suisse account be connected to what is probably the biggest bribery scandal in German economic history, the Siemens affair?

The story of an investigation that begins in Nigeria in the 1980s, leads to the Munich public prosecutor’s office in the noughties – and may not end in Dubai in 2021.

Collaboration: Laura Terberl, Carlo Sarsky. Additional speaker: Tami Holderried.
