SZ podcast “Munich personally” with concertmaster Yuki Kasai – Munich

Yuki Kasai not only plays the violin in the Munich Chamber Orchestra, but also plays a very special role: she is the concertmaster. What is required of her, how she found her way to music and to Munich in the first place – that’s what this episode of “Munich Personally” is all about, which was created in an extraordinary place: the concert hall of the Isarphilharmonie. She reveals why this offers a very special sound experience, from which seats this is best experienced and where Yuki Kasai is drawn to when she is looking for surprising or relaxing sounds in Munich.

Yuki Kasai was born in Basel in 1979. She came to Munich by accident. Since the beginning of the 2017/2018 season she has been the concertmaster of the chamber orchestra. Since last year, the role that she and her colleague Daniel Giglberger play has changed again, because there is no longer a chief conductor who outshines everything. For three years the chamber orchestra works with three so-called “Associated Conductors”: Jörg Widmann, Enrico Onofri and Bas Wiegers. A Dutchman, an Italian, a German – musically very different. The step should also stand for a new start after the leaden Corona period.

For the podcast “Munich Personally”, the People editor Sabine Buchwald, the social editor Jana Jöbstl and Ulrike Heidenreich and René Hofmann, the heads of the Munich, Region and Bavaria departments, alternately meet exciting personalities. The guest can choose the location, it’s about current projects and very personal plans.
