SZ podcast: “KI-Phone” – A new age of communication – culture

Deutsche Telekom presented the concept of a new smartphone without apps on Monday at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. With the “AI Phone” the user interacts with an artificial intelligence (AI) via voice commands. “The future will be free of apps,” says the founder and boss of Brain Technologies, Jerry Yue. The smartphone’s AI comes from his US technology company. The chip manufacturer Qualcomm is also taking part in the project.

For the “AI Phone”, Telekom is using its existing mid-range device T-Phone, which runs on the Google Android operating system. The smartphone itself is nothing special – what is done with it is: the use of AI to make the view of apps superfluous.

SZ features editor Andrian Kreye is convinced that smartphone use will change radically and the age of AI communication has begun: “This will change everything in the digital space: similar to how the Word Wide Web once did.”
