SZ podcast: Cathy Hummels on the curse and blessing of fame – Munich

Cathy Hummels lives in Munich and became known as the – now divorced – wife of the footballer Mats Hummels. There are now 700,000 fans following her and her performances on Instagram alone. If you ask around, the 35-year-old is generally considered an influencer. Cathy Hummels herself doesn’t like to hear that. Her job title is entrepreneur and presenter.

In the SZ podcast “Munich Personal” she gives insights into what a normal working day looks like for her. She tells us what the so-called Oktoberfest stroll is all about, which she elaborately stages every year at Oktoberfest. It’s about the question of whether too much public attention can harm the soul and how it actually manages to process the many nasty comments on its social accounts. And there is also a recipe for broccoli.

For the Munich editorial team’s podcast, people editor Sabine Buchwald, social editor Jana Jöbstl as well as Ulrike Heidenreich and René Hofmann, the heads of the Munich, region and Bavaria departments, meet alternately with very different guests. They pick you up at your place of residence or work and accompany you on your personal route. Sometimes by tram, subway, sometimes in a taxi or even on foot. Or they arrange to meet at special places in the city for a conversation.

It’s about current projects and very personal plans, about topics that move the city. About your favorite book, your favorite restaurant, your favorite club. The SZ podcast team invites people who have a connection to Munich. You live in the city or are visiting. They come from the areas of politics, gastronomy, culture, sport or media.
