After seventeen years of reign at the organization of Miss France – and twenty-one years after being crowned -, Sylvie Tellier will hand over. At the end of the year, she will be replaced by Cindy Favre as general manager, said a press release published on Wednesday.

Accusations of sexism

Alexia Laroche-Joubert, appointed president of the company in the fall of 2021, will remain “solely in charge of the management of the Miss France company and chose Cindy Fabre, crowned Miss France 2004; as director of the National competition, ”indicates the Miss France committee.

The contest and the Miss France brand have been held since 2002 by the production company Endemol, a subsidiary of the Banijay group. But a legal dispute had for a time opposed Sylvie Tellier and Endemol to Geneviève de Fontenay, historical leader of the “Miss”, who had created a competing brand.

For several years, the competition acclaimed in 2021 by some 8 million viewers has also been the target of the association “Osez le féminisme! who believes that “this sexist competition refers women to their physical appearance alone”.
