Passengers at the Swiss airports of Geneva and Zurich have to be patient on Wednesday morning. Due to a bug in the computer system, planes cannot take off or land.

In Geneva and Zurich in Switzerland, a computer glitch paralyzed the airports on Wednesday morning. As Geneva Airport announced on the online service Twitter, aircraft will probably not be able to take off or land until 11 a.m.

According to the Swiss news agency Keystone-SDA, there are similar problems in Zurich. The Swiss air traffic control Skyguide is affected by the computer glitch.

Swiss airspace closed

The Swiss airspace was completely blocked for security reasons, as announced by air traffic control.

“Swiss air traffic control Skyguide experienced a technical fault in the early hours of the morning, which is why Swiss airspace was closed to traffic for safety reasons,” explained Skyguide.

The suspension applies until further notice.
