Swing returns to Hohenbrunn – district of Munich

Dancing with Nietzsche? On his current album, the pianist and philosopher Kilian Kemmer is inspired by Friedrich Nietzsche’s “Also Sprach Zarathustra”. In various miniatures, his trio interprets philosophical ideas such as “eternal return” or why theft can make people happy. This Friday, March 4th, the Kilian Kemmer Trio, which consists of drummer Matthias Gmelin and bassist Thomas Stabenow, will present the album together with Werner Riedel (valve trombone) in the Alter Wirt. For Riedel, who also organizes the jazz series at Gut Keferloh, it is a return to a familiar stage. In 2019, after differences with the tenant at the time, he withdrew from Hohenbrunn as organizer of a concert that broke up at short notice, but quickly found an alternative at Gut Keferloh. “After the ugly end,” as Riedel puts it, and the later closure of the Alter Wirt in winter 2021, Alena Winter has now taken over the management of the restaurant. During a visit to Riedel’s beer garden in the summer of 2021, she asked him if he wouldn’t like to do the jazz concerts again. “Of course, gladly,” says Riedel. “As a previous waitress, she saw how well it went.” The whole thing was delayed again because of Corona, but now the time has come and Riedel, who lives in Putzbrunn, is hoping for a similarly good response as before. Admission to the concert, which begins at 8 p.m., is free; reservations are recommended at 08102/8979740. Riedel will definitely continue to organize the concerts at Gut Keferloh (“A Wonderful Stage”). And Hohenbrunn? “We’ll see. If there’s demand, we’ll be happy to play. There aren’t that many performance opportunities for jazz musicians around Munich.”
