Sven Schwarz didn’t manage to win a medal at his first World Championships. For this he is allowed to go to Paris.

Freestyle swimmer Sven Schwarz qualified for the Olympics in Paris in his first World Cup participation. Fourth place in the final of the 800 meter freestyle was enough.

Black struck after 7:44.29 minutes. He only had to give way to world champion Daniel Wiffen from Ireland, the Australian Elijah Winnington and Gregorio Paltrinieri from Italy.

Classic car fan Schwarz has already hinted at his great talent several times in recent years. His problem, however, was that he was an Olympic champion in open water Florian Wellbrock and Lukas Märtens were usually two world-class competitors ahead of him on his routes and occupied the German starting positions. Because Wellbrock was already eliminated in the preliminary round and Märtens decided not to start on the long distances at this World Cup, the focus now turned to black.

Matzerath sixth in the 50 meter breaststroke

Lucas Matzerath took sixth place in the 50 meter breaststroke, repeating his placement from the previous title fights in Fukuoka. The 23-year-old from Frankfurt clocked a personal best time of 26.80 seconds, 48 hundredths of a second behind world champion Sam Williamsson from Australia.

Williamsson relegated the Italian Nicolo Martinenghi and Nic Fink from the USA to the other medal places. As in the 100 meter final, Matzerath missed a direct starting place for the Olympic Games in Paris. A place in the top four would have been necessary for this.
