The seventh season of “SWAT” was supposed to be the last. Now the action crime series is continuing.

Fans can look forward to more episodes of the CBS series “SWAT.” The action crime series was actually supposed to end after the seventh season, but the US broadcaster changed its mind. “Here at CBS […] “We love a good dramatic twist, especially if it leads to an eighth season of ‘SWAT,'” Variety quotes Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment.

“The series continues to be well received by viewers thanks to our talented cast led by Shemar Moore and our great writers and producers who keep the series fresh and action-packed. We are very pleased to renew the series again,” said Reisenbach out of. The series about the Los Angeles Police Department’s SWAT special unit will continue in an eighth season with a further 22 episodes.

“SWAT” has already been canceled

“SWAT” was canceled in May 2023. The reason for this was a dispute between Sony and CBS over license fees. A few days later, the cancellation was revoked and the companies agreed on a final seventh season, but with a reduced number of episodes.

“All of us at ‘SWAT’ are excited about the news of an eighth season. Shemar and I had many conversations during the production of season seven and were confident that our amazing fans would remain loyal to us,” said Andrew Dettmann, co- Showrunner and Executive Producer. The series’ renewal is a “well-deserved reward for all the time, energy and effort put in by an incredible cast and crew with the continued support of our partners at Sony Pictures Television and everyone at CBS.”

Lead actor Shemar Moore is thrilled

Shemar Moore (53) is also pleased with the sequel. “This is still a dream job for me… I love my ‘SWAT’ crew, the actors, writers and producers – we have created an incredible, funny, exciting, provocative and heartwarming series for the world to enjoy ” says the actor enthusiastically.

“SWAT” premiered in 2017. The show is based on the cult series “The Bad Five” from the 1970s. Moore stars as a former Marine and SWAT sergeant tasked with setting up a special operations unit in Los Angeles.
