An eleven-year-old ran over her friend’s mother with a car in Swabia and seriously injured her. While the parents of the two girls were talking in a yard in Wechingen (Donau-Ries district), the eleven-year-old sat in the driver’s seat of the parked car and turned the ignition key, which was still in place, the police said on Tuesday.
Because the reverse gear was engaged, the car drove backwards on Monday when the girl accelerated. The 39-year-old mother of her friend was run over, who still wanted to try to remove the key. The car then crashed into the neighboring house.
A rescue helicopter brought the woman to a clinic with severe internal injuries. According to a police spokeswoman, there was initially no acute danger to life. The girl’s twelve-year-old friend, who was sitting in the back seat of the car when the accident happened, was slightly injured.
