Sven Regener returns to West Berlin in the 80s in his new novel “Glitterschnitter”. A meeting at, exactly, latte.

Sven Regener would have liked to go to the Ankerklause. The Ankerklause is a pub that is furnished like a ship and is located in the part of Kreuzberg where the characters from Regener’s novels are on the move. In addition, the Ankerklause was one of the first places in old West Berlin where you could get coffee with frothed milk in those white bowls, like in Paris. This is important because in Regener’s new book the milk coffee becomes a kind of thing symbol. Some want to consume it, others try to build an existence with it. Just like the employees of a rocked-down Kiez pub who finally want to attract a larger audience with coffee with milk.
