“If the illegal taking of interest was retained, it would only be for the benefit of a fraternal affinity and without proof”: the lawyer of Jean-Noël Guérini pleaded Friday in Marseille the prescription or the release of his accused client for promoting his brother’s business.
Using the anaphora “I do not like …”, the lawyer launched an attack in good standing against what he considers to be the shortcomings of a prosecution procedure, carried out with a preconceived idea and without really seek the truth.

Four years in prison required
Then president of the general council of Bouches-du-Rhône, Jean-Noël Guérini is accused of having preempted land in La Ciotat under the pretext of saving a rare plant, downy bindweed, then of having sold it to the Garlaban Huveaune Sainte-Baume (GHB) agglomeration community to support his brother who needed it for the extension of a landfill.
For these facts, the prosecution requested four years in prison on Wednesday, two of which are closed, a 70,000 euros fine and a deprivation of civil and civic rights against the elected official.
The trial, during which 12 defendants are on trial, is due to end on Wednesday with the defense of Alexandre Guérini. The judgment will then be reserved.
