What must have happened for someone to sit down and fabricate a book of almost 400 pages that looks like an anthology of papers from a scientific conference on a poison of the autumn crocus? Twelve contributions that read like specialist articles, but were possibly pieced together from other texts, paired with pages of literature lists with essays that actually dealt with the plant poison colchicine or similar substances. The whole thing with a preface said to have been written by Elena Ceauşescu, the wife of the Romanian dictator Nicolae Ceauşescu.
