The 69-year-old man, suspected of having killed three Kurds and injured three other people on Friday in the 10th arrondissement in Paris, was indicted on Monday and imprisoned, in accordance with the requisitions of the prosecution. He recognized a “pathological hatred of foreigners”.

This retired train driver of French nationality was indicted by an investigating judge for murder and attempted murder on the grounds of race, ethnicity, nation or religion, as well as for acquisition and possession not authorized weapon.

The suspect first went to Saint-Denis

On the morning of the events, the man first went armed to Saint-Denis (Seine-Saint-Denis) to “kill foreigners” but finally gave up for lack of people and lack of ease to reload his weapon due to of his dress, according to Paris prosecutor Laure Beccuau.

Returning to his parents’ Parisian home, where he lived, he then went on foot to rue d’Enghien, towards the Kurdish cultural center Ahmet-Kaya, whose location he knows.

His police custody was lifted late Saturday afternoon and he was taken to the psychiatric infirmary of the police headquarters. He was again placed in police custody on Sunday afternoon before being presented to an investigating judge at the Paris court on Monday.
