Of course, a single morning is not enough to fathom the essence of the legendary parents’ taxi. But anyone who stands in front of an elementary school with a pad and pen around half past seven on a fresh but sunny Thursday in September will have made at least a few observations half an hour later. Observation one: The parent taxi appears in different models – BMW, Mercedes, surprisingly often: Volvo – but it is almost always big, wide and dark. A small Mitsubishi and a blue Škoda Octavia join the roughly twenty black or black-like SUVs this morning. But that should of course also be due to the field that was selected for the field research: the Gräfelfing elementary school, in the particularly greasy part of the commuter belt around Munich.
