SPD loses five percentage points in survey – CDU increases

If there were already state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia on Sunday, the SPD and CDU would be in a neck-and-neck race for first place. The mainstream parties could count on 28 and 26 percent. As in previous polls, there would only be majorities for Jamaica or the traffic light.
DThe CDU in North Rhine-Westphalia has clearly increased in favor of the voters in another election poll. In a survey published Thursday by the opinion research institute Insa for the “Bild” newspaper, the Christian Democrats came to 26 percent, six percentage points more than in the previous Insa survey in October 2021.
The SPD loses five percentage points, but remains the strongest force in North Rhine-Westphalia with 28 percent. For the survey, Insa asked around 2,000 eligible voters at the end of January and the beginning of February which party they would vote for if there were already state elections.
A survey published last Sunday by the opinion research institute Infratest dimap on behalf of the WDR magazine “Westpol” came. The CDU and SPD had each reached 28 percent. A new state parliament will be elected in North Rhine-Westphalia on May 15th.
As the “Bild” reported, the Greens are up one point to 14 percent compared to the October survey. The FDP loses three points and comes to 12 percent. The AfD remains at 8 percent, the left at 4 percent. The other parties account for 8 percent, one percentage point more than in October.
The governing black-yellow coalition of Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst (CDU) would thus come to 38 percent and would not have a parliamentary majority. According to Insa, there would be majorities capable of governing for a Jamaica coalition led by the CDU with 52 percent or for a traffic light alliance led by the SPD with 54 percent.
