The first companies are calling for a statutory 3G rule for offices and production halls. Some companies are said to have already imposed 3G or 2G rules on their company buildings without a legal basis.

In view of the increasing number of corona infections, according to a report by the “Handelsblatt”, the first companies in Germany are calling on politicians to introduce a statutory 3G rule for offices and production halls as well.

This means that only those who have been vaccinated, those who have recovered or those who have tested negative would have access to companies. In a survey by the “Handelsblatt” among selected Dax companies and large family businesses, the insurer Allianz, among others, emphasized: “Clear legal requirements from the legislature would be very helpful.” 3G would also be the “preferable solution” for Vonovia, but the legal framework made the introduction difficult, the newspaper quotes the real estate company as saying.

The automotive supplier Continental therefore advocates 3G in the office as a “consistent continuation of the public Corona regulations”. The energy company RWE would “welcome the introduction of a legal framework for a 3G rule”. The engine manufacturer MTU and the household appliance manufacturer Miele are demanding nationwide uniform regulations.

According to “Handelsblatt”, the first companies have already imposed 3G or even 2G rules for their company buildings without a clear legal basis in order to normalize everyday operations. Bayer is going particularly far: Employees in laboratories or sub-areas of production, for example, could voluntarily apply the 2G rule to work together again without distance or mask or hold meetings in person.

This is legally permitted: Employees can voluntarily provide their employer with their vaccination status. Other companies have introduced 3G restrictions: at SAP, for example, since the beginning of October only those who have been vaccinated, tested or recovered have had access.
