In the United States, Texas’s new abortion law is up before the Supreme Court today. If the US Supreme Court approves the so-called “Heartbeat Bill” of the Texas Republicans, this could have fatal consequences for all women in the USA.

Actually, there has been a law in the USA since the 1970s that states that states are not allowed to prohibit an abortion before the 24th week of pregnancy. Now the clock could be turned back in the USA, according to USA correspondent Raphael Geiger. According to Geiger, the “Heartbeat Bill”, which came into force again in Texas in September and has now occupied the Supreme Court, should no longer only be enforced by the state, but also by private individuals! “So allegedly militant anti-abortion opponents who can make money with it in the future, for example if they sue the clinic, should, in their opinion, not adhere to the new law. In the same way (…) even the Uber driver can be prosecuted, if he even brought a woman to the clinic address. ” With 6 Supreme Court judges considered conservative and only 3 liberal, Geiger sees a possibility that the strict abortion rules could be introduced not just in Texas but across the country.
