He staged West Germany’s start into the color television era: The entertainment director Dieter Pröttel is dead. He died at the age of 91 surrounded by his family near Starnberg. His best-known work is likely to be his directing work on the comedies “Die Supernasen” (1983) and “Zwei Nase tanken Super” (1984) with Mike Krüger and Thomas Gottschalk. From the 1960s to the 1990s, he shaped many popular entertainment programs, such as the “Rudi Carrell Show”, “Die Pyramide” or “Auf Los geht’s los”. TV producer Werner Kimmig, a companion, recalls that he was extremely popular with production teams. “He had the ability to bring even the most disparate star characters together.” The burial will take place in the closest family circle, but there will be a memorial service in a few weeks.
