Music cut off and light dimmed by 50% at Leclerc in Viry-Châtillon (Essonne) between 8:30 am and 9:30 am every morning. The reason for this “silent hour”? Allow people with autism to come and do their shopping without suffering from the noise and light of the supermarket. Other major brands in the commune of Essonne – Intermarché and Bricorama – have also adopted the principle, indicates The Parisian. A “silent hour” is also offered in the Carrefour de Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois, on Mondays from 2 pm to 3 pm. A system set up in the group’s establishments of more than 10,000 m2.

These silent hours were put in place in December 2019 in the brands of the U group. The system is spreading and is included in
The law project worn by Nadia Essayan, deputy (MoDem) of Cher.
