“Ticketed Spaces helps you create audio experiences, live in Twitter Spaces, that your audience is willing to pay for,” said Ellen Havlicek and Esther Crawford, product managers at Twitter, in a statement. “Super Follows allows you to build a direct relationship with your most loyal followers, which can generate monthly income,” they add.
3% commission, and 20% if income exceeds $ 50,000
On “Ticketed Spaces”, Twitter stars will be able to sell virtual tickets to audio shows, for prices ranging from $ 1 to $ 999. The “super” subscribers can, for their part, pay monthly packages of 3 dollars, 5 dollars or 10 dollars to access exclusive content. “We want to help make Twitter not only a cool place to interact with audiences, but also a place where you can make money by having stimulating conversations,” said Crawford and Havlicek.
Twitter will touch 3% of total revenue from “Ticketed Spaces” or “Super Follows” below $ 50,000. Beyond this amount, the social network will take a 20% commission. These revenues could allow the company to diversify its sources of revenue, which currently rely heavily on advertising.
Twitter clarified that the commissions would be calculated on the amounts remaining after the withdrawals already made by the app stores. Apple and Google apply service fees for developers offering their services on their online stores. With the new features, Twitter also hopes to attract more popular personalities and their audiences to its network to deliver targeted ads to them.
