Suicide of Lucas, 13 years old: the moving message of his mother, who speaks for the first time

She wants to break the silence, twenty days after the tragic death of young Lucas, 13, who killed himself on January 7, victim of harassment in particular because of his homosexuality.

It’s in the columns of the local regional daily, Morning Vosgesthat Séverine, the mother of Lucas, this young schoolboy, victim of school bullying who committed suicide, chose to speak.

“Do not be afraid”

In an interview, published this Saturday, January 27, she launches a courageous appeal to all mothers and also to all children. She asks the victims of harassment to speak up, and above all not to keep quiet about what is happening to them. “Talk about it! Do not be afraid, to anyone, talk about it! You have to free yourself. Do not take it as a fault. (…) There is an attentive ear, always someone who can help, family, friends, a psychologist, the police… Do not fear reprisals”.

His message is above all a call for freedom. “You have to be free. You have to love yourself. You have to live,” she defends.

Lucas’ mother does not wish to comment on the matter itself. She simply wishes that the students, the four college students who will be jsued for harassment following the suicide of the teenager “recognize their wrongs and above all that something is done so that they do not start again”.

They recognize mockery

This Friday, January 27, the public prosecutor Frédéric Nahon told AFP quoted by Le Figaro that four college students would be “for school harassment leading to the suicide” of 13-year-old Lucas.

“During their hearings, the respondents, two 13-year-old girls and two boys, who attend the same school as Lucas, only admitted to having made fun of their comrade on several occasions,” said Frédéric Nahon who specified that they will be the subject of “an evaluation by the judicial protection of youth before their judgment”.
