Samsung is causing a big surprise Amazon cell phone sales charts. Suddenly, out of nowhere, the Galaxy S23, released in February 2023, ranks in third place. Last week it wasn’t even in the top 10. Why are so many suddenly buying the old Samsung cell phone? There are probably two reasons for this: Amazon has reduced the price of the model and Samsung has released a major update that adds a function that Amazon is now also advertising: the Galaxy AI.
This is an artificial intelligence that helps you edit images, interprets in telephone calls or gives you a hand when formulating texts. It was introduced together with the Galaxy S24 series in January 2024 and was initially only available on these models. It has also been available on the Galaxy S23 since the end of March.
Price and Galaxy AI update
Since the S24 is otherwise not particularly different from the S23, buying the predecessor is apparently an option for many Samsung fans – especially if the cell phone is available at the offer price like it is now on Amazon. The mail order company offers the version with 256 gigabytes of memory starting at 629 euros.

The exact price depends on the color chosen. The color “Cream” is currently the cheapest on Amazon. For the Galaxy S24 with this memory version you have to put at least around 150 euros more on the table.
However, anyone who wants to strike now has to be careful. Amazon doesn’t offer the S23 cheapest in every color. While you save around 100 euros with the “Cream” model compared to other retailers, you can get the “Green” and “Phantom Black” colors even cheaper elsewhere.
