1. Please tell us your current hardware:
(Please actually list here and do not refer to signature as this is not seen by some and hardware changes)
- Processor (CPU): AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
- Memory (RAM): Kingston FURY Beast DDR5 32GB (2x16GB) 6000MT/s DDR5 CL36 DIMM KF560C36BBEK2-32
- Motherboard: ASUS ROG STRIX B650E-E GAMING WIFI
- Power supply: BeQuiet Straight Power 12 Platinum 750W
- Case: Fractal Design 7
- Graphics card: Gigabyte 4070 EAGLE OC-12GD (1x 8Pin)
- SSD: 2x m2 WD Black SN850X (2 and 4 TB)
- Air cooling with Alpenföhn Brocken 4
2. Describe your problem. The more precisely and better you describe your problem, the better you can be helped (additional pictures could be helpful, for example):
I assembled the computer myself and have experience with it.
After assembly everything started as expected, I then installed Win11 pro and Suse Tumbleweed as a dual boot and started running the usual tests. All fans were running, responding to load and various fan curves.
Installed/updated all missing drivers under Win, updated BIOS.
Today I used it productively for the first time, image editing with Darktable under Linux. Everything is good, stable, fluid.
I didn’t shut down the computer for a longer break, but put it into standby (sleep to RAM). Worked, power LED flashed.
And then when I woke up…
- PC reacts to being woken up by moving the mouse and starts up, the power LED lights up continuously
- All fans are running, RGB lighting on the board is on
But:
- No picture
- POST code 00, after a long wait sometimes 46
- Yellow diagnostic LED (RAM) lights up, after a long wait the red one (CPU) also lights up
3. What steps have you already taken/tried to solve the problem and what did it achieve?
- Hard shutdown
- Power supply off, power cable removed
- CMOS reset via button
- Buffer battery out/in
- Ram replaced and bolts inserted individually
- Cooler removed, CPU removed, visual inspection of CPU and socket ok, reinstalled
Nothing.
I’m assuming there’s a defect in the CPU, RAM or mainboard (in my opinion, the probability is decreasing in that order). Unfortunately, I can’t counter-test it, it’s my first and only AM5 system.
What I find striking is the fact that the whole thing occurred immediately after a standby to RAM.
Do you have any other thoughts on this?
Thank you and nightly greetings,
Mr. Carson
