Successor to the nine-euro ticket: why Bavaria is so struggling with the idea – Bayern

Berlin is the first federal state to present a successor to the nine-euro ticket, while in Bavaria the tariff jungle is blooming again and prices are rising. Is the Bavarian government missing an opportunity?

If German federalism were a family, then Bavaria would be the rich uncle who likes to spread his legs and rub his family in the face of his successes: my house, my car, my contribution to the state financial equalization. Berlin, on the other hand, would be the clammy brother-in-law, who doesn’t get all that much done, but still seems quite satisfied – “poor but sexy”. So it’s a bit of a twisted world that Berlin of all places quickly launched a follow-up offer for the nine-euro ticket that expired in the summer, while the tariff jungle is blooming again at Bavaria’s bus and train stations and ticket prices are rising.
