Stuttgart separates from Labbadia – Sebastian Hoeneß takes over – Sport

VfB Stuttgart has signed Sebastian Hoeneß as the new coach and parted ways with Bruno Labbadia. This was announced by the Bundesliga soccer club on Monday. Hoeneß has signed a contract that is independent of the league and runs until June 30, 2025. Stuttgart lost 3-0 at Union Berlin on Saturday and are bottom of the table.

“We would like to thank Bruno Labbadia for the work he has done. We signed Bruno last December because we were firmly convinced that we could start a turnaround with him. Bruno has worked with the team from day one with great commitment and great passion, unfortunately but this didn’t pay off in the form of points. Ultimately, we came to the conclusion that we needed a new impetus,” said VfB CEO Alexander Wehrle in a statement.

Hoeneß’ first game will be the DFB Cup quarter-finals on Wednesday in Nuremberg. The 40-year-old is the Swabians’ fourth coach this season after Labbadia, Pellegrino Matarazzo and interim coach Michael Wimmer. Labbadia took over the post last December, under him there has only been one win in eleven league games so far. VfB is currently two points behind the relegation place.
