Study Music and AI: Sales Drop by Billions – Culture

According to a study carried out by the German collecting society for music rights Gema with its French counterpart Sacem published on Tuesday, almost twice as many musicians are afraid of artificial intelligence as normal citizens. To be more precise: Almost half of all Germans fear that the automation processes of the digital world will rob them of their livelihood. In the music world it is 71 percent. If you dig a little deeper into the survey figures, musicians have every reason to be afraid. For the five years between 2023 and 2028, the two collecting societies expect a drop in sales of 27 percent, which corresponds to a total of 2.7 billion euros in Germany and France alone.
