Students can now submit their application on “My master”

It’s time to express your choices at the university. “My master”, a new platform on the Internet which should allow students with a bac + 3 diploma to apply for a master’s degree at the start of the school year in September, opened for applications on Wednesday. This system aims to reduce the tensions between supply and demand.

The new platform, monmaster.gouv.fr, has been open since the end of January for an information phase. Students can now apply there until April 18. The admission of candidates will take place from June 23 to July 21.

A platform without algorithm

Each year, hundreds of students who have completed their three years of license cannot find any faculty to welcome them in order to continue their university course, hence the need to better guide them. Unlike the Parcoursup post-baccalaureate admission platform, which is governed in part by an algorithm, “My master” does not have one.

“The platform simply makes it easier for students to apply to universities, to harmonize the timetable and to speed up responses to applicants,” explains the Ministry of Higher Education. As for Parcoursup, then asks the student to accept or refuse the proposals offered to him.

Disgruntled student unions

To denounce the launch of this platform and the lack of creation of master’s places, around 200 university students and staff gathered on Wednesday in front of the Ministry of Higher Education in Paris. “It was important for us to be here in front of the ministry because today is the opening of the “My master’s” platform, which is quite vague and which will select students even more from the start. entry into a master’s degree”, denounced Imane Ouelhadj, president of the Unef union.

The demonstrators were also protesting against “pension reform, student precariousness, working and study conditions and all policies that destroy public service”. “Being here today allows us to send a strong message to the Minister of Higher Education, because we are supposed to have had the announcements on the scholarship reform for three months. It is to put pressure on him, to show that we are mobilized both against the pension reform, but also for a right to the future, ”added Éléonore Schmitt, spokesperson for the student union L’Alternative.
