The Republicans (LR) performed well this Sunday in Mayotte, where the departmental elections experienced, despite the health context, a high turnout of nearly 64%. During this election, the 93,000 voters of the island in the lagoon must elect 26 departmental councilors in total.

The LR group, which presented pairs in nine out of thirteen cantons, managed to qualify for the second round in seven cantons, in particular in Sada where the deputy Mansour Kamardine, who aims for the presidency of the department, came first in the first round. . He will face next Sunday a pair close to Senator LREM, Thani Mohamed Soilihi.

Eleven duels and one triangular

Same configuration in the canton of Mamoudzou 3 where the LR pair, formed by the outgoing Debré Ali Combo and his running mate Saoudat Abdou, will be opposed in the second round to Hélène Pollozec and Nadjayedine Sidi, supported by LREM. Only one pair was elected in the first round in Mayotte. They are Maymounati Moussa Ahamadi and Ali Omar (New impetus for Mayotte) elected in the canton of Dzaoudzi-Labattoir.

In the neighboring canton of Pamandzi, the outgoing pair composed of Daniel Zaïdani, former president of the departmental council, and Soihirat El Hadad (Movement for the development of Mayotte, center) missed the re-election in the first round by seven votes. The second ballot in Mayotte will therefore see 11 duels and a triangular one in the canton of Tsingoni in the center-west of the island.
