Pro-Palestinian activists want to boycott Germany! Pro-Palestinian and anti-Israel activists are apparently behind the action, which is called “Strike Germany”.
They call on “international cultural workers to strike in German cultural institutions”: According to “Strike Germany”, the policies of “German cultural institutions that suppress the right to freedom of expression”, “in particular solidarity with Palestine”, should be rejected.
But the boycott call is also against Germany as a country. “Strike Germany” accuses the state of “systematically refusing to recognize the ongoing genocide against the Palestinians.” This has manifested itself “for years in the silencing of Palestinians and those in solidarity with their struggle and the sale of weapons to Israel and its allies.”
However, the fact is: Germany generally supports Israel’s right to self-defense, including after the massacre by Hamas terrorists in which more than 1,200 people were brutally murdered. The federal government “decisively and expressly” rejects the accusation of genocide against Israel.
Germany’s Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock (43, Green Party) recently called on Hamas to lay down its arms at the World Economic Forum in Davos (Switzerland). She appealed to Israel to avoid civilian casualties as much as possible in its war in the Gaza Strip.

The fact is: At pro-Palestinian demonstrations after October 7th, anti-Israel and anti-Semitic slogans were repeatedly used. The police were repeatedly attacked during their operations at the protests, for example in Berlin.
The campaign’s Twitter/X account says: “‘Strike Germany’ is committed to the liberation struggle and against Germany’s embargo against internationalist solidarity.”
Supporter list with prominent anti-Semites
A list of supporters of the “Strike Germany” activists also includes prominent names, especially the French writer and Nobel Prize winner Annie Ernaux. The “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung” first reported on this entry on the list.
Ernaux’s German publisher, Suhrkamp, confirmed to the newspaper that she had signed. Annie Ernaux never made a secret of her sympathy for the “BDS” boycott movement.
Also on the list: Mohammed El-Kurd, Palestinian writer and anti-Semite who is currently in Great Britain. During an anti-Semitic speech in London, he spoke on stage of how “Zionism is a death cult” and demanded: “We must normalize massacres as the status quo.”
Zionism refers to the pursuit of an independent Jewish state in which Jews can live in safety.
Tirdad Zolghadr, visiting professor at the Berlin UdK, is also on the “Strike Germany” list. He is faced with the problem of boycotting the institution where he teaches at the same time.
DJs cancel appearances at Berghain
According to “Zeit”, the initiators of the campaign could be supporters from the anti-Semitic “BDS” environment. Because: “Strike Germany” also demands “that German cultural institutions commit themselves to overturning the anti-BDS resolution”.
In 2019, as part of the resolution “Resolutely oppose the BDS movement – combat anti-Semitism,” the Bundestag decided to withdraw financial support from the “BDS” campaign.
► According to “Zeit”, in the famous Berlin club “Berghain”, the boycott campaign by “Strike Germany” has already led to cancellations by some DJs who were supposed to perform at the publicly funded CTM festival.
For its part, Berghain canceled the performance of a DJ who had previously shared posts denying Hamas terror. This apparently led to protests from the scene close to “Strike Germany”.
