Strike at the railway: The most important questions and answers – Economy

They have been negotiating for almost five months, but there is no solution in sight: the train drivers’ union GDL and Deutsche Bahn are fighting over higher wages and shorter working hours for around 10,000 railway employees. The GDL hits the company with one strike after another, and the railway defends itself with lawsuits. That was also the case this Monday, when the company filed an urgent application against the announced 24-hour strike from Tuesday morning. The decision was not yet available at the time of going to press, but one thing is clear: the judges cannot resolve the collective bargaining dispute themselves. This requires the railways and the GDL – and perhaps some help from outside.
