Fans of Teddy Teclebrhan have been laughing at chaotic humor and lovable fictional characters for years. These are now getting a new home – and are causing real fits of laughter for many celebrities.

13 years ago, a man with a bleached mustache and a white fine-rib shirt was filmed during an alleged street survey. He introduces himself as Antoine Burtz and answers questions from an integration test. The likeable, stupid answers and counter questions (“What are you babbling about?”) have to date had 45 million views on YouTube. The viral hit is the start of the comedy star’s career Tedros Teclebrhan, whom everyone calls Teddy. This Tuesday, the 40-year-old is getting his own show on Amazon Prime Video.

In the six episodes of the “Teddy Teclebrhan Show”, some of the most famous fictional characters of the artist who grew up near Tübingen are in the foreground: in addition to the rambling Antoine, especially the lovable Percy, who is supposed to present the weather in the show, and pensioner Ernst Riedler.

Except for the pre-produced comedy clips, a gas station backdrop serves as a show stage, including a live band and studio audience. It features musical guests such as Max Herre and Joy Denalane at the end of the episodes.

Stars have to stop themselves from laughing

A small highlight in episode two is the “Stevens Gossip Show”, hosted by Steven Gätjen, in which a feuding boy band (Antoine, rapper Megaloh and reggae singer Patrice) meets. Here the celebrity guests and Teclebrhan keep falling out of their roles because they have to laugh heartily. The acting stars Iris Berben, Albrecht Schuch, Karoline Herfurth and Real Madrid professional David Alaba also have to suppress their laughter during the sketches.

The Eritrean-born entertainer rarely relies on real punchlines or punchlines. Teclebrhan draws his humor from the accents and idiosyncrasies of his characters on the one hand, and from an original, crazy silliness on the other. Some people can’t laugh at all, but the trained actor’s chaotic humor has been generating viral hits on social media and selling out live shows for years.

According to Amazon Prime Video, the half-hour teddy shows, which were recorded in Cologne last summer, are the start of a multi-year and exclusive project between the comedian and the streaming platform. He has already appeared there as a candidate in “LOL: Last One Laughing” and as a host of “One Mic Stand”.
