Amanda Knox hit the headlines in 2007 in connection with a murder in Italy. She spent almost four years in prison before being acquitted of murder charges. Material for a series.

US actress Margaret Qualley (29, “Poor Things”) is supposed to play the American Amanda, who was acquitted of suspicion of murder, in a planned miniseries Play Knox. The series is “based on the true story of how Knox was wrongly convicted for the murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher and her 16-year odyssey to free herself,” the US magazine “Variety” quotes a press release.

As several US media reports, the streaming service Hulu has commissioned eight episodes for the story. The series will be produced by Knox himself, Qualley and also Monica Lewinsky. Lewinsky had already taken part in the series “Impeachment: American Crime Story”, which dealt with the sensational affair between former US President Bill Clinton and then-intern Lewinsky more than 20 years ago. The now 50-year-old shared a report about the planned project with Qualley in an Instagram story and expressed her joy about it.

Knox hit the headlines in 2007 in connection with the murder of British exchange student Meredith Kercher in Italy. An Italian court sentenced her to a long prison sentence for the murder in 2009. In 2015, Knox was finally acquitted of the charge. By then she had served almost four years in prison.
